Old Scotch boosts its ranks for 2009, Examiner Article 18/12/2008
OLD Scotch Football Club is looking well placed for a successful 2009 NTFA division 2 season.
The Thistles won a second NTFA division 2 reserves premiership in 2008 as well as the NTFA division 2 club championship.
And with some serious pre-season recruitment for 2009, has a senior flag in its sights.
Former Northern Bombers captain Kim Curtis will join the club as an assistant to senior coach Ben Green. And the Thistles have also gained the playing services of former Longford captain Shaun Smith and Bridgenorth forward Jamie McClenaghan.
"Kim, Shaun and Jamie will be excellent additions to our club and we are happy to have them with us," Green said.
He said the club was pleased with its retention of players from this season, which had given it a platform to build for 2009.
"We've had some outstanding off-field and on-field development and the club is eagerly awaiting 2009," Green said. "Especially with the possibility of some twilight games to maximise the upgraded facilities and lighting at our home base NTCA Ground."
Green said Old Scotch was also excited about its continuing links with the East Launceston Junior Football Club and Scotch Oakburn College.
The Thistles pre-season training will start on Monday, January 12, at 6pm.

Pre, Pre-Season Running
For those of you that are keen to get into some sort of shape before pre-season starts, a few of the boys will be doing a short run every Wednesday night starting at 6pm from the NTCA Carpark. It is a very easy run and can be taken at your own pace.
Look forward to seeing past and any new players there.
