entropion noun[ U ] medical specializeduk /enˈtrəʊ.piː.ɒn/ us /enˈtroʊ.piːˌɑːn/ a medical condition in which the eyelid (= either of two pieces of skin that can close over each eye), usually the lower eyelid, turns inwards towards the eye: He presented with a right lower lid entropion that was successfully treated surgically. Another condition that's usually related to ageing is entropion, when the edge of your eyelid and eyelashes roll inward. Age results in atrophy of the muscles that close the eyes, and can result in entropion. The patient may already have an anatomical predisposition to entropion formation, due to a reduction in muscle tone. If your dog's eyes seem to constantly tear or are always inflamed, entropion could be the cause.
