The ductus arteriosus connects the aorta to the pulmonary artery during fetal life and effectively shunts fetal circulation away from the lungs. The malformations included serious heart or major vessels anomalies, such as no ductus arteriosus. Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a heart problem that is usually noted in the first few weeks or months after birth.
