deadweight cargo noun[ C or U ] TRANSPORTukus goods that are very heavy in relation to the space that they take up. The cost of transporting these goods is calculated by their weight: The tanker has sufficient cubic capacity to depart with a full deadweight cargo of coal slurry, using only the five center tanks.
