The American Hereford Association register Braford, but concentrate on breeding purebred animals. The ranch has sold about two dozen of its Braford cattle to the Cubans. The Braford has the red-and-white colouring of the Hereford, but is bigger. Brafords have good pigmentation around the eyes, which provides protection and resistance to eye cancer.
