boneset noun[ C or U ] uk /ˈbəʊn.set/ us /ˈboʊn.set/ a plant with white flowers that is used to make medicines: Boneset has clusters of small white flowers in fuzzy flowerheads. It is thought that boneset leaves were used in traditional medicine to wrap around broken bones to help them to heal. Bonesets are fairly easy to grow in wildflower gardens. Boneset is also known as feverwort or thoroughwort. Although perhaps not the most attractive of plants, boneset grows in almost all conditions and is disease-free. Boneset is poisonous to humans so must be used in very small quantities in herbal medicine.
